The 2026 National Heritage Week takes place across Ireland from 15 to 23 August. Hollywood Village is embracing this year's theme of "Heritage at Risk" and is hosting numerous events throughout the week to celebrate the village's heritage. Hollywood is buzzing with excitement as we celebrate our rich history, landscape and community spirit with a full week of events. There’s something for everyone, walkers, art lovers, families, heritage enthusiasts and neighbours near and far. Hollywood Heritage Week starts 15 August with a full week celebrating our history together.

This year, the list of events promises to be bigger than ever, with many events scheduled to take place over nine days. Among the highlights include the following events:

Spiritual Stroll: Stories that shaped Hollywood’s Sacred Landscape

Wednesday 19 August, 7pm. Meet at St. Kevin's Church of Ireland, Hollywood

Walk the Hollywood Heritage Trail and Glen with Dr Emma Lyons. This peaceful guided stroll invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and step into the stories that shaped Hollywood’s sacred landscape. Along the way, Dr Lyons will share evocative tales of St. Kevin, point out hidden historic places, and explore the healing spirit long associated with the Glen.

Local History Festival, 23 August 2026

As part of Heritage Week 2026, a Local History Festival will be held in St. Kevin's Church of Ireland, Hollywood, celebrating the rich heritage of the village and its surrounding area. This fascinating afternoon of talks brings together leading historians and researchers to explore the people, places, and traditions that have shaped this historic landscape.

The event will take place in St. Kevin's Church of Ireland, Hollywood, beginning at 12noon. The programme features:

12noon: Professor Aidan O'Sullivan (UCD) – St Kevin's Pilgrims' Road and Templeteenaun Medieval Church

1pm: Cormac Allen (TU Dublin) – Archbishop William Magee's 1824 and 1827 Confirmation Tours of Dublin and Glendalough

Exhibitions

Two exhibitions will be open daily in the Hollywood Community Centre from 9.30am-12.30pm for Heritage Week.

The Heritage Keepers' Exhibition explores the field names of the areas surrounding Hollywood, offering an opportunity to learn about the stories behind our local landscape and stories about how some fields earned their names.

Hollywood Village: Past & Presentexhibition features the 1901, 1911 and the recently released 1926 census records, highlighting local placenames and the families who shaped the community (daily, 15-23 August).

Plein Air Painting

Bring your preferred painting materials and try painting in the open air in this informal and social event. In the stunning surroundings of St. Kevin's Church of Ireland, enjoy a relaxing and creative day out in a supportive environment. Lunch will be served in the Community Centre at the end of the morning.
